Payments and payouts

Trip

Wehome provides diverse payment options to help guests make reservations conveniently and securely.

Korean guests:

  • All Domestic Cards: Supports all cards available in Korea, including credit and debit cards.
  • Kakao Pay: Quick and easy payments through Kakao Pay.
  • Bank Transfer: Payment option via domestic bank transfers.

Global guests:

  • Visa, MasterCard, Amex, JCB: Payments via global credit card networks.
  • Debit Cards: Debit cards that use credit card networks are also supported.

Wehome supports various currencies to ensure that guests from around the world can use our service conveniently. You can select your desired currency when entering payment information, and you can change your default currency at any time. However, while the accommodation fees are displayed in the supported currencies, the actual payment is processed in Korean Won (KRW). The exchange rates between the supported currencies and KRW are updated every two hours.

On Wehome, all charges are displayed in the currency you have selected. If you change the currency during the booking process, the rates will automatically update to the newly selected currency. The payment page will also show the charges in the new currency before the booking is completed.

  • Third-Party Fees
If you make a payment in a currency other than the one designated for your primary payment method, your bank or credit card company may charge a currency conversion fee. Wehome is not responsible for these fees, so please contact your bank or credit card company for more information.
  • Foreign Transaction Fees
If the amount shown on your bank or card statement differs from the amount displayed on the Wehome payment page, it may be because your bank or credit card company has classified Wehome’s payment processor as a foreign entity. In this case, even if the charge was processed in the standard currency designated for your payment method, a foreign transaction fee may be applied.

Wehome does not handle or refund foreign transaction fees. For more information regarding foreign transaction fees, please contact your bank or credit card company.

The total reservation cost is calculated based on the nightly rate set by the host, along with any additional fees and charges determined by the host or Wehome.

Types of Fees

  • Service fee: This guest service fee is charged by Wehome and is used to provide 24/7 customer support and ensure smooth platform operation.
  • Cleaning fee: Some accommodations may include a cleaning fee set by the host to cover the cost of cleaning the property after guest check-out.
  • Additional guest fee: For certain properties, the host may charge an extra fee per person if the number of guests exceeds a specified limit.

Wehome charges a service fee upon reservation confirmation to cover the costs of providing 24/7 customer support and ensuring smooth platform operation. The Wehome service fee is divided into guest fees and host fees.

  • Guest Fees: The guest service fee is typically less than 10.9% of the subtotal (including host-set accommodation rates and additional fees), amounting to 12% with VAT included. This fee is 30%-50% cheaper compared to Airbnb, whose guest fees range from 14.2% to 16.5%. The guest service fee may vary based on various factors, and in some cases, a lower fee is applied for stays of 28 nights or more. The exact guest service fee is displayed on the payment page before reservation confirmation.
  • The Wehome guest service fee is refundable if the reservation is canceled before check-in, as it is included in the refundable amount. Unlike Airbnb, where the guest service fee is non-refundable, Wehome ensures transparency and flexibility for its users.
  • Value Added Tax (VAT): Depending on the jurisdiction, VAT may be applied to the service fees mentioned above. In such cases, the service fee will include VAT.

Wehome reserves the right to change the service fees at any time, and all changes will be made in accordance with Wehome’s terms of service.

To enhance the reliability of reservation requests, payment for the accommodation fee is required at the time of booking. If the reservation is not confirmed, you will receive a 100% refund. Wehome ensures a safe and secure refund within 24 business hours using the same payment method the guest used. Note that the refund processing time may vary depending on the credit card company.

For bank transfers, the reservation request is sent to the host only after the bank transfer is completed.

Payments and communication outside Wehome
There are instances where Wehome members may be encouraged to communicate outside of Wehome using platforms like Facebook Messenger or text messages. However, if you communicate outside of Wehome, you may not be protected by Wehome’s cancellation and refund policies, host damage compensation, host liability insurance, terms of service, payment service terms, and other safety measures. Additionally, outside of the Wehome platform, it is difficult for Wehome to protect your personal information, increasing the risk of phishing scams and other security threats.

Paying hosts directly
If you have made a payment to a host via bank transfer outside of Wehome, it could be a fraudulent reservation. Report it to Wehome immediately for assistance. You can always verify whether a reservation was made through Wehome.

Wehome’s Commitment to Community Protection
Wehome is dedicated to protecting the Wehome community. Wehome reviews messages sent through its platform to maintain safety. Messages containing external links, references to other websites, or contact information posing potential risks are blocked.

  • Refund Guarantee: If there are no issues during the stay, the security deposit will be 100% refunded to the guest. The refund is processed using the same payment method the guest used and will be refunded on the second Thursday after checkout.

  • Reason for Setting Security Deposits: Hosts can set a security deposit to cover potential damages that may occur during the stay. In case of any damages, the host can request compensation from the guest. The security deposit acts as a safeguard if the guest refuses to compensate for the damages.

  • Resolution Process: If the host and guest agree, the guest compensates the host for the agreed-upon amount of damages. If no agreement is reached, Wehome will mediate. If Wehome determines that the guest is responsible, the compensation will be deducted from the security deposit.

Refund account information for bank transfer

If you paid the accommodation fees via bank transfer, you will need to provide your bank account information for a refund.

Hosting

Most hosts pay a fee of 2.72% (3% including VAT). The host service fee is calculated based on the subtotal of the accommodation fee (including the nightly rate and any additional fees charged by the host, but excluding guest service fees and taxes). This fee is automatically deducted from the amount paid to the host.

Regardless of the booking time, payout to host for stays are made every Thursday for all check-ins scheduled by Wednesday. The amount is transferred to the bank account designated by the host, and the settlement currency is Korean Won (KRW). This system allows both guests and hosts to have sufficient time to confirm that there are no issues with the reservation.

Long-term Stays: For reservations of 28 nights or more, the first month’s accommodation fee is settled at the time of booking confirmation. The remaining accommodation fees for the extended period are paid on a monthly basis.

Payout methods

Accommodation fees are settled via bank transfer. Host need to set the bank account.
